Michele Papadia's new album, Out of Gravity is a ten track masterpiece of musical cross- pollination of Jazz, Funk, Afrobeat, Electronica with impromptu improvisation around the themes of freedom, sharing and spirituality. A pianist specialising in Hammond organ and analog synths, Michele has explored all aspects of Black Music in his collaborations with Gianluca Petrella, Bobby Previte, Lars Danielsson, Manu Katche, Joe Bonnamassa, Brian Auger, Eric Gales, Robben Ford and Kirk Fletcher. For Out of Gravity he has pulled together a maestro level core quintet of Italian Jazz majesty including Fabrizio Bosso, Francesco Bearzatti, Francesco Ponticelli and Stefano Tamborrino, that is augmented by Washington based vocalist and lyrical improviser Kokayi, Watermelon Funk's Deshawn 'D'Vibes' Alexander, the phenomenal Angela Esmeralda and Malian Conga and Ngoni player Kalifa Kone. This international melange of musicians from three continents absolutely defines the collaborative and internationalist flavours of the production and musicianship on display in the recordings of Michele's excellently crafted tracks. If Out of Gravity is a love affair with Black Music then the musicianship is a love affair with the collective spirit of musicians.
